I’ve recently developed a passion for photography.  I’ve always loved to look at pictures, but have only recently discovered how joyous it is to capture them myself – and now, I can hardly put down my camera.  Since I can remember, I’ve always loved to create.  I’m fully right-brained, and regardless of whatever medium it is that I choose to express myself, doing so creatively is about as necessary to my livelihood as air is to breathe.  Capturing the character of another human being, or having the ability to steal time for just a moment, is equal parts challenging and rewarding.

Amid my relentless search for knowledge and inspiration on the subject, I stumbled upon a neat little thing the other day called the 365 Project.  In short, the challenge is to share a self portrait every day for a year – a day in the life of you.  A visual journal of sorts, the aim is to improve photography skills, journal life’s events, and inspire others.

While I won’t be posting my photos to their website, I’ve challenged myself to do it here.  Sometimes words will accompany the image, and I apologize now for the days that I will inevitably miss here and there, as there’s bound to be a few.

This is Day 1.  It’s a lazy shot, and self-portraits aren’t exactly easy, so I’ll have to ease into this a little.  I just took my camera, looked down and snapped.  When I pulled it up to edit, I had to laugh.  This is about as raw as it gets, people.  The end of a long day at work, freckles no longer hidden beneath a day’s worth of makeup, kids in bed, and heavy sleep on the horizon.
