New Orleans to Entebbe

I have the distinct honor of doing life with a remarkable friend named Jessica.  Jess and her husband have been a huge influence in our decision to adopt, because we were able to be a part of the fundraising for the adoption of their son, Solomon, from Uganda. We were deeply moved by their experience and were so honored to have been a part of it.

Since their adoption, Jessica has returned to Uganda every summer to serve in various ministries there, offering practical assistance to the orphanages and slums of Uganda, and just being the hands and feet of Jesus.

Two days ago, Jessica invited me to join her on a trip to Uganda that leaves in less than a week.  I have desired to serve the people of Africa for so many years, but it has never been the season for me to do so – until now. After speaking with my husband and praying about it, we decided to see if God was still in the mountain moving business because the trip is going to cost us a little over $2,000.

$2,000 that we do not have.

So far, we have raised $1,300 in less than 24 hours.  Yes, friends – He is still in the mountain moving business!  Friends across the country have given of their hard earned money and supported me in prayer over this last day, so I am reaching out to you for two reasons.

  1. Fundraising. We are still about $1,000 away from our goal to cover the cost of the trip.  If you feel so led, you can send a donation via PayPal to kklodato@gmail.com. EVERY. DOLLAR. COUNTS.
  2. Pray for our team. We hope to use our time there to not only serve God’s people, but to raise awareness about Africa, missions, slum kids, orphans, poverty, despair, hunger, etc.  It is our time to put our feet to the ground and do God’s work, and we need every prayer we can get.

We will be visiting an orphanage to love on some babies, visiting and loving on the people of the Ugandan slums, and working hand-in-hand with several ministries to further develop their mission and plans to serve the people of Uganda.

An added bonus is that we will be accompanied by the Young Living Foundation to watch all of the donations to the foundation get put to good use. How many times are you able to see your $10 donation to a foundation get tangibly used?  I hope to be able to be the eyes and ears and adequately portray to you how amazing this foundation is and all that they are doing in the world. Watch the video below to see just a glimpse of what God is doing through this foundation. Your prayers and donations are much appreciated.
