About Us

When Frankie and I met each other, we were both fresh from some pretty painful divorces.  Our common desire to figure out the plan that God had for us and our children was the foundation behind a friendship that got us both through that painful period in our lives.  A year later, we began dating.  Our courtship was magical.  For both of us, it felt like the first time we’d ever fallen in love, only this time, we had wisdom and experience on our side (it’s also why we discourage our kids from dating too young, but that’s an entirely separate blog post).

Four months into our courtship, Frankie proposed on our favorite spot on the beach in front of the most beautiful sunset.  I’m a photographer by trade, and he knows how much it means to me to be able to memorialize special moments, so he hired photographers to capture the proposal – they are photographs that I will treasure for the rest of my life.

After an 8 month engagement, we were married in Jackson Square in New Orleans on the most beautiful October day.  We, along with our four children, officially became a “blended” family – or as our family and friends affectionately refer to us – the Brady Bunch.

About a year and a half later, we welcomed a new baby to the family – our sweet little Mary Violet.

And there you have it – a neat, abridged timeline of our short family history.  So…why write a blog? Frankie and I believe God has given us a unique perspective on life, and sometimes we have things about that perspective that we want to share.  But sometimes it’s a lot more simple than that.  Like a photo of the first time our baby stands up.  Or a funny anecdote about our kids.  Or a new project my husband is working tirelessly on.  It’s mostly just our family journal, and there will likely be things posted here that will bore you to tears, but we invite you to read it anyway.

Love,

The Lodato’s

  1. Loved reading your story “10 marriage tips every wife needs to hear”. It was very informative. Please continue writing such informative articles. May LORD JESUS bless you and your family with all the blessings of Deuteronomy 28:1-14.

  2. I just came across your blog for my very first time tonight. With me being a stay-at-home, homeschooling mommy of five, I often look to other mothers for should we say “affirmation and reassurance that I am not alone on this journey.” When I saw that you too were mother to 5, I was intrigued, especially because we are both Christians. My kids are all ages 9 and younger, so at times I struggle with patience, sanity, and relaxing and letting the big things go and just enjoying the little things. I enjoy reading your blog further and following along with your adoption journey. May the Lord continue to richly bless you both and your children.

  3. I just found your blog…and as a divorced mama in her twenties with a little one…this blog gives me hope that God is just working on me and that love will come again and in the most precious package for me! You have a beautiful family and a beautiful perspective on life!

    • Thank you, Lisa. THIS is why we write this blog. I’m so thankful that you are blessed and encouraged by what God has done in our lives. All the glory goes to Him. 🙂

  4. Love reading your blog and always looking forward to new posts! Thank you for sharing your faith and how God works in marriages and families. I am embarking on becoming a blended family after both of us coming from painful divorces, and I am so excited to see God working through us and our families … oh and did I mention, we will have 6 kids altogether!! Blessings!

    • Thanks so much, Jennifer! I wish you all the best on your upcoming marriage. Check back with us frequently, as we will be doing a series of posts on blended families. God Bless!!!

    • @Jennifer- I just recently remarried (3rd marriage) and we each have three kids. I’m right there with you! It takes faith in God and a lot of patience to make this work!
